Notes from the Cottage Garden
Last updated September, 2025
New for 2025 stay up to date with the happenings in the Cottage Garden. Unlike the Blooming Now Guide, mainly focused on California native wildflowers and shrubs found throughout the park, the Notes From the Cottage Garden will track the Cottage Garden blooms, native and non-native plants and trees. In periodic posts, Jenny Simpson Randall, the head gardener, since 1997, will present notes and musings about the current and past garden with photos and identification of currently blooming plants.
The historic plants have come and gone since Jack and Charmain lived in the cottage, but what you see surrounding you is a composite of what is left, what has been reintroduced and what is appropriate to the era of the Londons.
Jenny and her team of volunteer gardeners are challenged with presenting a public blooming, historic garden that is able to withstand the effects from the visiting deer and other critters.
