Adventures in Writing with Jack London - For 4th and 5th grade classes

Through interactive lessons and trail activities, students are introduced to Jack London and his love of adventure, Nature, and storytelling. We warm-up the imagination with stories of Jack London as we take a focused sensory hike to the Wolf House, encouraging students to pay attention to sights, sounds, and other sensory impressions. The lesson wraps-up in the House of Happy Walls Museum with a plot sequencing activity that connects to the historic photographs on display. All activities support Common Core standards for English language arts and literacy for 4th and 5th grade. Click here for program details and field trip outline for teachers.
  • Program consists of an easy one-mile hike over hilly uneven terrain and a focused activity in the House of Happy Walls Museum.
