House of Pride
About The House of Pride
A collection of six tales of life in Hawaii. Jack London traveled to Hawaii several times and wrote more about the islands and the South Pacific later in his career. He used these tales, and others, to describe the struggles and prejudices of races and classes around the start of the twentieth century. Besides the problems observed between lovers of different races, there is the constant clash between the white colonists and missionaries, and the native population.
