Simple Tools • Beautiful Images • Lasting Memories

In this fun and informative class, you’ll learn how to take better, more meaningful photos during the season’s most memorable moments– your iPhone is the perfect tool to help you capture it all.

We’ll explore:

  • How to photograph in tricky holiday lighting (twinkle lights, candles, evening scenes)
  • Tips for warm, natural portraits of family, friends, and pets
  • Easy ways to use your phone’s settings for more control and clarity
  • Creative ideas for framing and composing your holiday images

We’ll include live demonstrations, time for discussion, and plenty of inspiration to help you see the holidays with a fresh photographic eye.

9:00 to 11:00: The first half of the session will be held upstairs in the House of Happy Walls

11:00 to 2:00: We’ll step outside and put our skills into practice in the perfect setting—Jack London State Historic Park, where the landscape and history provide endless inspiration.

Demonstrations will be shown on an iPhone, but all smartphones are welcome. Whether you’re capturing a Thanksgiving dinner, or the glow of a menorah or Christmas tree, you’ll walk away with new confidence and practical skills.

No special equipment needed—just your phone and a love for capturing life as it unfolds.

Meet the Instructors

Susan and Neil of silvermansphotography.com, a husband and wife team have been “captured” with photography for over twenty-five years -(teaching, leading workshops, and working professionally in many venues).. Not only do they lead their own photographic tours, but they have taught for the Santa Fe Photo Workshops, Gualala Art Center, Santa Rosa Junior College, Pacific Northwest Art School, Pt Reyes Field Institute, Great American Photography Workshop (GAPW), B&H Photo, PPC, PPWC, WPPI, Better Photo as well as many Photo Clubs and organizations. Sharing knowledge, experiences, and camaraderie is as meaningful as “getting the shot”.  Their work has appeared as the cover of Outdoor Photography, in Elle Magazine, der Spiegel, Sierra Club, the Cure, Audubon, Nikon World, Press Democrat, San Francisco Chronicle and many more.

The Silverman’s are living on the North Coast and they enjoy teaching no matter the level of experience or equipment—be it camera or smartphone camera.

As photographers they realize that the light reveals itself in meaningful ways— on the camera, as a visual awakening, as an awesome moment in time and as a kindling of spirit and soul.
