One of our most popular hikes is the Fern Lake loop. This moderate 6-mile hike with a 600-foot elevation gain will provide a workout through diverse habitats. You’ll pass through the majestic redwoods and mixed evergreens, marvel at the ancient redwood, descend to Fern Lake, and then return to Jack’s Lake before returning to the parking lot. Kathy Hillback, the hike leader, might share some interesting tidbits about Jack’s Lake and Fern Lake.
Bring your hiking poles (optional), plenty of water, snacks, and wear sturdy shoes. We suggest you dress in layers to be comfortable no matter the temperature.
