Wild Neighbors – American Black Bears

Wild Neighbors - American Black Bears

WHEN:

Thursday, November 13, 2025

WHERE:

Jack London State Historic Park
2400 London Ranch Road
Glen Ellen, CA 95442

Join us at Jack London State Historic Park for a fascinating presentation that shines a light on one of our most captivating neighbors, the American Black Bear (Ursus americanus).

Naturalist and educator Meghan Walla-Murphy, co-founder of the North Bay Bear Collaborative, will guide us through the lives of these remarkable animals and the growing efforts to understand and coexist with them here in the North Bay. The Collaborative’s work includes collecting bear scat for DNA analysis, studying population genetics, and promoting coexistence through education and practical management tools.

Through stories, insights, and a deep respect for the wild, Meghan will share how black bears are returning to our region and how each of us can take simple steps to coexist peacefully with these powerful and intelligent creatures.

Come be inspired by a vision of living in balance with the wildlife that shares our landscapes.
