Tjiska has had a long-standing love affair with the open spaces of Northern California and has dedicated her career to environmental protection. Over the past 35 years, she has organized multi-million dollar capital and endowment campaigns, led marketing and public relations efforts and established development departments for organizations such as the San Francisco Zoological Society, Sierra Club, Earthjustice and America Red Cross Bay Area. She co-founded Rachel’s Network, a membership of philanthropic woman advancing environmental issues and has been consultant to Defenders of Wildlife, Save the San Francisco Bay and Marin County Parks on fundraising strategies to support innovative projects. She was thrilled to become the Executive Director for the first non-profit that helped save a park from closure.
