"Now you, young writer, have you something to say, or do you merely think you have something to say? If you have, there is nothing to prevent your saying it. If you are capable of thinking thoughts which the world would like to hear, the very form of the thinking is the expression. If you think clearly, you will write clearly."
- Jack London from The Wit and Wisdom of Jack London

Annual Young Writers Contest for 6th-8th graders

Congratulations student authors!

Jack London Park Partners is excited to announce the winners of the 9th annual Young Writers Contest! Eighteen short stories were submitted from all over the country. In addition to various parts of California, stories came in from New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Colorado, Missouri, and Oregon. Our panel of volunteer judges carefully and thoughtfully conducted blind readings and each one stated that the stories this year were excellent and very well written, making their task very challenging. Congratulations to every student who sent in their original work, you should all feel very proud of your achievement!

To learn more about the contest, check out this year’s  flyer for details.

All stories are judged blindly by volunteers who do not work for Jack London Park Partners nor California State Parks.
