The East Slope Sonoma Mountain Ridge Trail was created in 2015 as a collaboration between Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation & Open Space District, Bay Area Ridge Trail Council, Coastal Conservancy, Sonoma Mountain Preserve, California State Parks and Recreation, Valley of the Moon Natural History Association (Jack London Park Partners), Sonoma County Trails Council, private landowners and many, many community volunteers. This extension of the Jack London Park’s, Sonoma Ridge Trail makes for a truly inspiring hike with wildflowers and viewing opportunities of the Sonoma Valley and possibly the San Pablo Bay.

John Lynch will lead the hike which begins in Beauty Ranch and makes its way to the Jack London Lake, circling to Mountain Trail through a bountiful evergreen forest, to the trailhead of the beautiful Sonoma Ridge Trail. What a nice trail for hikers with it’s slow elevation gain by a series of switchbacks and spotted by banks of blooming wildflowers ending at the East Slope Ridge Trail trailhead. If the wildflower gods are with us in 2020, at the top, we will see a magnificent display of California poppies and lupine in bloom plus a variety of other wildflowers.

For those who are unsure of completing the full 12-mile round trip moderate-strenuous hike, there will be numerous
turn-around points along the way with Park docents to lead hikers back to Beauty Ranch.

Hikers should bring water, hiking poles, lunch, and binoculars, dress in layers and wear sturdy shoes.

When: Saturday, April 18, 2020  from 9:00 am to approximately 3:30 pm. Meet in the ranch parking lot

Admission:$15 (parking fee extra)

Price: $15.00
