Set in San Francisco at the turn of the 20th century, the novel tells the story of Charmian, a bold and ambitious woman whose life is forever changed when she meets young writer Jack London. From a broken picnic date to a devoted partnership as friend, confidante, editor, and companion. Their story is one of passion, resilience, and determination.

Marlo Faulkner will share details of the remarkable life of Charmian London, read excerpts from her book inspired by this extraordinary woman, and sign copies for attendees.

About the Author

Marlo Faulkner, a native of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, has led a remarkable and adventurous life, working as a roadie, English instructor, columnist, literary scholar, and a featured speaker for the Jack London Society. Her fascination with Charmian London began during a visit to Jack London State Historic Park, where she discovered Charmian’s private apartment. Years of research, travel, and study culminated in her new novel, The Second Mrs. London, bringing to life the extraordinary story of one of Sonoma Valley’s most captivating women.
