Start your New Year with an adventure!
Kick off 2026 on the right foot with our 13th Annual First Day Hike to the Summit of the Park! Feel amazing as you start the new year surrounded by nature, good company, and breathtaking views. Whether you’re taking on the challenge to reach the top or simply looking for a fun way to get moving again, this hike is for you!
The roundtrip journey is 8 miles and moderately strenuous. This hike will be joined by friendly park volunteers who will be there to help and can guide participants back to the parking lot at any time. When you reach the summit, take in the stunning scenery, snap a victory photo, and celebrate your accomplishment with fellow hikers. There’s no better way to welcome the year than with fresh air and a big smile.
By joining this event, you’ll also be part of the national “First Day Hikes” movement—a program by America’s State Parks encouraging people across the country to start the year strong and healthy.
