Springtime is a beautiful time of year for us and the transitioning flora and fauna. So what is happening? Join us on an exciting adventure into the world of wildflowers and birds, including a visit to discover the historic blooms and birds in the Cottage Garden! We’ll kick things off with a short outdoor presentation, complete with a display table and handouts, to help you learn how to identify springtime blooms and birds. Then we will explore the Wolf House trail to enjoy the array of seasonal wildflowers. Finally after a short break on the other side of the park to enjoy some light refreshments, we’ll continue to the Cottage garden to view the cultivated historic blooms and some special birds.
Guide, Carolyn Greene is a curious general naturalist, who has been observing, pondering, and asking questions about birds and botanical wonders for decades. Her degree is in biogeography from U.C. She has worked as a field biologist, conducting birding and botanical restoration and research for the past 25 years, for local parks, the California State Parks system, and the U.S. National Park Service. She leads field trips for the Madrone Audubon Society, is a certified California Naturalist and “Cal Nat” trainer.
A slow-paced 3 mile walk with some elevation gain. Wear sturdy shoes, bring a snack, water, and hiking poles (optional), dress in layers, and plan on a inspiring outdoor adventure.
