Fall/Winter Birds

WHEN:

Saturday, December 3, 2022

WHERE:

Jack London State Historic Park
2400 London Ranch Road
Glen Ellen, CA 95442

WE ARE SORRY THAT THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO THE FORECASTED RAIN. YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN OUR JANUARY EVENT WHICH WILL INCLUDE WINTER BIRDS AND MORE AT  A WINTER NATURE WALK TO THE WOLF HOUSE
Although birding is a year-round activity in Sonoma County, birds sing less and are not as active in fall and winter, so they can be harder to find.  Are you up for a challenge?  We’ll set out to find and identify our resident birds and winter visitors by sight, sound, and habitat – let’s see if we can spot at least 20 species.  Bring binoculars if you have them; water and a snack.  The walk will be about 3 miles with some up/downhill.

Hike Leader Carolyn Greene is an endlessly curious general naturalist, who has been observing, pondering, and asking questions about botanical wonders, for decades.  Her undergraduate degree is in biogeography from U.C., with a specialty in botany. She has worked as a field biologist, conducting wildlife, plant, and restoration research for the past 25 years, for local parks, the California State Parks system, and the U.S. National Park Service. Carolyn is also a certified California Naturalist and “Cal Nat” trainer.

Limited to 10 birders of all ages. Rain cancels.
