| This was Jack London's first book, published in 1900. It was a collection of nine of his early short stories about the Klondike gold rush and life in the far North. He had previously spent time living among the miners and trappers in the Yukon and these stories reflect those experiences. The stories are told in the language of those men and reflect the hardships they endured, as well as their interactions with the local natives.
