Hear Jack London’s master storyteller Jeff Falconer read the short story “A Thousand Deaths,” on Sunday, February 6, 2022, in the House of Happy Walls museum.
“A Thousand Deaths,” is a pseudoscientific tale about a mad scientist who uses his son as a subject in a series of experiments. It was an early short story published in 1899 during a desperate period in London’s life as he was attempting to gain a footing in the literary world while trying to put food on the family table. Published by “The Black Cat,” a five-cent monthly magazine devoted exclusively to original, unusual, fascinating stories.
A discussion will follow the reading.
