Jack London State Historic Park - Lake

Jack London's Lake

Nearly one hundred years ago Jack London built a small dam on the slopes of Sonoma Mountain, creating an idyllic respite for hikers, swimmers and horseback riders.  Today the dam is in imminent danger of collapse, the lake has shrunk to one quarter its original size and the surface is covered in algae.  The Jack London Lake Alliance is determined to meet the significant challenges of this important project.

The Alliance was formed in 2008 with one objective:  to fully restore Jack's lake, dam, dock and surrounding landscape to the refreshing oasis it once was.

To learn more about this important effort, to read surveys and studies, see engineering reports and to get involved please go to our website.  Jack London Park Partners fully supports this effort and we are working together to raise the critical funds to dredge the lake, repair downstream erosion, re-channel the outflow, and repair the road once the heavy work is complete.    [ Download Lake Map ]
